Took my funboard out and went to a point break that I've never been. I did not know it was that shallow. My ankle landed on the reef, I can't believe my luck as it landed on the part where all the nerves are. Now it's even hurting at other parts of my feet as I'm assuming it's due to the nerves. No bruises or bleeding as I was wearing 3mm boots.
Went on amazon and bought one of those ankle strap. It did not work and made it even more painful. Do I need to wear a foot cast or something to speed up the healing process? Doesn't hurt when I walk, only when I stretch and when I sleep.

Have you seen a doctor?
I hurt my ankle while surfing, hurt for a week before my doc told me to take ibuprofen every 8 hours and do ice daily. It worked, so go get some help

Not yet, I'm planning to give it a few days of rest to see if it improves. I do have health insurance but I really hate dealing with healthcare in the US. There's always little surprises that comes in the mail in a few weeks and hits you with a big fat invoice.

How low was the tide when you hit it?

It was high tide. I think I wouldn't have landed on the reef if I didn't fight it. I tried to resurface faster so I put myself in a vertical position trying to swim upwards. If I had just rolled my body horizontally, then I wouldn't have landed on the reef. I just did not think the reef was that shallow.
Am recovering. The nerves and tendon hurts a little but probably 8/10 recovered.
