Wow 70? Thats like taking a bath. Try surfing CC water. We are talking about 45-50degree water during the Summer! During the winter it drops to about 35-40. I dont put my suit on tell winter though.

Board shorts do it for me. No grease needed. The chill goes away with the numbness

Ya ill just have on the rubber because a cold front will be coming through, that will drop the water temp and the air will make it kinda chilly. Not for you UK people, but ive gotten used to this 90 degree water lately.

Water temp's around 57 F here at the moment - and dropping fast!!
Had a wetty on all year - In the summer you can get away without one, but can't stay in the water for as long, so I always wear one!

I would probably boil in 90 degree water. I like my 50water and 90 outside.

here in so cal, water is usually around 65-70 F, sometimes maybe below 65, so yeah wetsuit is a must if u wanna stay in the water a little bit longer, but anything above that, baggies and rash guard

70 degree water!?

wow, i wish i had 70 degree water here, in the summer. i usually wear my suit when the water is around 60 or lower. water is about 50 here now, and i am ok in my 4/3.
doesn't the wax melt off the board when the water is 90 though? i can't even imagine surfing in water that is that warm.

wow, i had no idea that the water up there was that much different. in the summer we usually get up to 85, this past summer i think we hit 90, but if theres a strong offshore wind then it drops
all in all, the water is rather plesant IMO through a good portion of the year, although an ice cream headache is guarunteed with every duck dive in the winter.....cant wait!

tomcat - yeah, its pretty cold up here all the time (lived here all my life and will never get used to the cold water). massachusetts and NH usually average 60-63 at the warmest times. Rhode Island can get up to low 70's, I think cause it is close to where the gulf stream goes by. def a lot colder up here. Right now water is 50 here in massachusetts - Bbrrrrrr.

its still not cold enough for a wetsuit here. i surfed all day today and it felt awesome in just board shorts and a rashie. But i did get a new wetsuit, cuz the temps should drop quite a bit after a few more cold fronts. I got the rip curl e-bomb.
