Good Size Board and What Material

Postby ECLIP3S » Mon Jun 28, 2021 11:11 pm

So I am a beginner-intermediate surfer, I can confidently paddle out by myself and catch most waves I choose. I was wondering what a good board for me would be. I am 6'2 and weight around 120lbs(yes I'm skinny af). I was looking at an 8' Wavestorm but wasn't sure if it's too long or if I want a foam top board. I've only used a Wavestorm once so I'm not sure if I won't be able to maneuver them very well, but I don't want to get something too short(where I can't control it) or too expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Wavestorm I was looking at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HK ... 0DER&psc=1
I was also suggested this board: https://www.costco.com/gerry-lopez-8'-f ... 08430.html

Sorry if this is the wrong Forum, I'm brand new to this site.

Usually the recommendation is to get a board 3 feet longer than your height but since you are so skinny I am not sure how that affects the usual recommendation. So what have you tried so far? Have you gotten lessons? That is the usual way to figure out what works for you. Generally when you are beginning you won't be able to maneuver any boards very well so not sure about the concern for that. I haven't ever surfed a wavestorm but a guy I know said that they are easier to catch waves with which is important for learning
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

How is your turning and trimming along the face of the wave ?

Do you have a Costco membership and a Costco warehouse near your home?
