How do you respond when this happens...shout?...kickout?...keep riding? Do you have a prevention trick?

If I can get below them I have two varied techniques.

Hand flip them by flipping the nose of their board back over the wave, a push can also do it but they can grab you,.
The reverse technique is the nose grab with your trailing hand and flick them down the wave which causes them to nose dive.
These are aggressive moves so your surfing better be A game to support your moves.

I have more downright attack moves, but realistically if the session has deteriorated to that I would rather be elsewhere !

If you have time and skill , a bottom turn to line up on the track they are planning to drop in on and then a top turn at their drop in point establishes your don’t drop in on me credentials.

Realistically as I get older I get less like being a cranky old Clint Eastwood!

You need to figure a few things:
1) is the drop in person a Guy or Girl ? Is she/he good looking ? Does she have a boyfriend ? Is the boyfriend bigger than you ?
2) is the drop in person a kid ? Is the kid's father watching from the beach ? Is he a Marine ?
3) Has the drop in person dropped in on you before ? ( once, they didn't see you, twice, it was a mistake, third time, that's on purpose )
4) Does that drop in person seem to be holding a good line or getting squirrely ?
5) Is the board you are riding a NEW BOARD ? Is the board poly/pu, EPS/epoxy or Molded epoxy ? Is the board they are riding a Costco Wavestorm ? Can you fix your own dings ?
6) Do you have health insurance ?
7) is this the first wave of your session or you've been out a few hours ?

All these things you need to consider in 0.005 seconds ?

I'm not skilled enough for Jaffa's ninja moves or Chan's .005 list. Options are limited when you're 5'7" and 70!

When it starts I usually shout "on your left/right."
When it continues I try to ride it out.
When it's over I keep the conversation respectful.

Best option, mellow vibes win, elsewhere outside of aggro works too!

Waikikichan’s response is awesome but for me it rarely happens because I surf alone in uncrowded conditions. If it does happen I will usually bottom turn around them and make them surf behind me This would be regardless of waikikichan’s carefully thought out categories of people who may drop in on you. This typically results in them falling. But if it’s small enough and mushy I might surf behind them or kick out or go the other direction If the person is dropping in as I am taking off and the other direction seems okay I’ll just go the other way

I'm not sure that last drop in from that video is the one that went a bit viral recently. People were saying all you could imagine about the drop in guy as people love doing on social media (not saying he's not in the wrong), and then a photographer released some footage that shows how Mitch dropped in another guy in that same wave earlier. I just found ironic how some people that were attacking the guy defended Mitch saying the guy he dropped in would unlikely make the section
