Do you notice etiquette changes when the surf is pumping?

Sometimes the "Old crew" only comes out when there's some size. They don't care about the "Everyday'ers", since they've been waiting so long to actually dust off their boards. So they just go.

Sometimes it's the Half-good / Beginner-Intermediates trying to "prove" them selves ( or prove to themselves ) that they can handle the bigger conditions. But they don't know that the take off spot has changed or that the line up has also.

It might not be a rule, but in my experience heavier days usually have a more "selected" crowd (less people and usually more experienced), maybe a little more respect in the water. Not that there aren't drop ins or situations happening, but usually less..

Smaller days with big crowds is often where patience is tested

I agree with you about heavy days. That said, on smaller good days the overall number of surfers dramatically increases and the lineup becomes a free for all. With the extra traffic I also see more variety in the watercraft...SUPs, foils and kayaks... and this adds to the confusion. Thoughts?
