I'm headed out to Tahiti and Moorea, and would like to take along a ding repair kit for my Firewire Seaside in Helium. Can I just use SunCure or similar, or does this construction need something special.

Solarez will work, but make sure you get the BLUE colored tubes. Get the blue fiberfill resin ( for strength ) and the blue microballoon filler ( to fill in the missing blank if the ding is deep enough ).

Would be better to have the microballoon filler if the ding is deep all the way to the EPS core. But sufficient enough to seal up the ding. Just make sure to do it in multiple layers. Especially right on the EPS core, do a thin layer then build up on that.

And bring more sand paper and a utility knife.

Another way to fix a ding when there's no sunlight ( or a UV flashlight ) is to bring along some 2-part ding putty.

There's many types of 2-part epoxy putty. You might find it by other names such as plumber's or marine putty. I've use Surfco's quick fix putty in the past on my molded epoxy boards that are still good for over 10 years.

But for Amazon, just search "Ding Putty". But you could also check your local hardware or marine supply for it too.
