Hi everyone,

Last summer I started surfing, bought a 9FT 3INCH foam surfboard. I progressed quite well, it was fairly easy to stand up because the volume of the board was 93 Litres. I have sold my board and I'm looking to buy a better quality surfboard but I'm having trouble deciding what I should get for my size knowing it's hard to get smaller then 9'3 board with similar volume.

I'm currently 123kg (270lb) but trying to get my weight down for the summer.
Height is 180cm (5.9)

Could anyone with experience advise me please on the shape of the board, or any brands or even models they would recommend, would appreciate it greatly!

Peace! :D

Walden is your best option

Some other not quite as voluminous choices that may be available in your area are the Torq 'the Don' XL - the 9'0 version is x 23 1/2 x 3 1/2 = 82L (so a fair bit smaller than the Walden) and the NSP Protech Double up 8'4" x 23" x 3" ³/⁴ = 85 Liters (obviously shorter).

Depending on where you live, you will probably find there is a local shaper that does a big boys longboard. In many cases it will be cheaper than the Walden (which isnt the cheapest board around); so hunting down some local shapers and asking them about pricing should definitely be on your list.

unfortunately surfing isnt a sport for big guys, so you do need to spend a bit more time and probably money (vs grabbing a likely looking second hand board and seeing what happens) to get what you need. Waldens (for example) are pretty popular so one might pop up on your second hand search; but it could take quite a while
