Well compared to today's high performance Short boards, the board Kelly Slater was riding in the 90's were a LONG board.
Can anyone verify what length he was riding in the video ? I say around 6'4" to 6'8".

I would guess the board was right in the middle of those dims.. 6'6"x18.5xPotato chip was the go to size for most high performance big wave boards back then. It looks about that size in that clip too. Hadn't seen that in a long time.

Long ago it was advised to use a board that was 6 inches longer than your height or if a beginner then maybe a couple more. The super short boards Slater uses are quite functional for him. Not so sure about others. But look at him ripping on that longer board as longer boards obviously work for him too.
