Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor said ...

Went to ear, nose, & throat doctor earlier this week. Primary reason for appointment is sinus related. The doctor looked in my ears with her otoscope and said, "You have a little bit of surfer's ear in your left ear."

Wow, now I really can claim to be a real surfer!

LOL Yeah. I went to a surgeon to get a sebaceous cyst removed from my back and the surgeon giving my aftercare instructions said (besides some other things about waterproof bandages for showers) No swimming or going in the ocean for 2 months. I blurted out "Two Months? No ocean for two months? I'll be dead by then!" She looked at me sternly and then asked "Are you a surfer?" I guess that qualifies me as a surfer. Not your typical surfer here so happy to be recognized as one.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

billie: do you wear ear buds or hoods? Hopefully it's not serious!

ConcreteV, sorry for late delay. Went on business travel clear across the USA last week. Thanks for your concern. However, it's not even close to serious. Yes, when I surfed in cold water for many years, I wore a thin hood. Ear buds of any sort never remained in place. I've only needed any of my thin hoods in the most wintery days here in SoCAL. For the last three years, it hasn't mattered because I haven't been healthy enough to surf much at all. But, this is going to change in 2020!
