Surfing Waves

Hey guys!
I know of a couple of surfers who also play music or sing. Do you know of any?? Doesn’t have to be professional. Just for fun even. Help me out! Thanks!

Jack Johnson Donovan Frankenrighter, there is a whole raft of Australia singer surfers and of course surf music groups !

Go straight to Hawaii too!

Well technically he's not a singer, but he is in a band. ( and a lot of the other band members surf too )



I've seen him many times at my local break in Waikiki. Really nice guy.

Kelly Slater and Stephanie Gilmore both surf and play music and sing. There is probably a whole bunch of them. They have a lot of time to learn when they aren't surfing. Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam surfs. Landon McNamara is a Hawaiian surfer who released an album. Makua Rothman is another Hawaiian surfer who released an album. There is a group of surfers called Switchfoot who have a few albums out. I think Bruce Springfield used to surf not sure if he does anymore. I used to know this guy Wally who played ukulele and sang and surfed but he ended up in jail so I lost touch with him. I am sure there is a lot of people that do both. Oh yeah Carissa Moore sings too.

Oh yeah and guys I grew up with Titus and Emery were both great surfers and musicians who both played instruments and sang

I enjoy Tim Curran. He's retired professional surfer. musician, and a spokesperson for the Surfrider Foundation. I also appreciate his enthusiasm when autographing his music CDs purchased directly from him for my surfing neighbor's little girl.

Hopefully, you know singer / surfer Jack Johnson. We love him in Santa Barbara and see him around town every now and then.

Tom Curren, retired big wave professional surfer makes nice music, too. I recall an outdoor performance by him and his band about 9 years ago here in Santa Barbara. His home is exactly 1 mile from my home.

Mark Kram, PhD, is a fine musician that surfs all over the world. He played some of the guitar pieces on Endless Summer II. Mark also developed several state-of-the-art technologies for cleaning up soil and groundwater contamination.

And then there's just about every surfer in Santa Barbara. There's many hundreds to thousands that surf and make music.

Did you hear about Beau Young? He is Australian singer and surfs a lot , he is a good example!!!

Yep twice longboard surfing world champion 2000 and 2003 son of NAT Young, and a singer, he is popular but not to my taste!
