Surfboat Racing

Extreme athletes in 1938.

Love the commentary "Those waves are dangerous. Abandon ship!" ... and watching paddling teams move around the boat get outside, catch waves and avoid pearling!

They still have surfboard racing at surf carnival between Australian Surf Life Saving Clubs, they also have a few very long distance race down the NSW coast The George Bass race.

Looks like they could have ridden it out instead of abandoning ship. The boat went over the breaking wave just fine.
