Surfing Waves

Santa Barbara surfer Conner Coffin, 25, launched into a barreling wave alongside at least five dolphins on day three of the Margaret River Pro, south of Perth on Saturday.

Kelly Slater, 47, said Coffin's ride with the dolphins was one of the 'coolest things I've ever seen in my life.

Maybe this video clip is better. It shows more angles and more slow motion. It ends with comments by Kelly Slater. Kelly is mentor to Conner. I remember Kelly attended the showing of a surfing film featuring Conner and his brother, Parker. The film was shown on the back patio of the Channel Island Surf Shop located in the Santa Barbara Funk Zone. I have the t-shirt!

One more tidbit about the Santa Barbara surf community. Pro surfer Lakey Peterson is also from Santa Barbara and is a contemporary of the Coffin brothers.
