What do statistics tell us about shark bites and lightening strikes?

There's sad international surfing news today. Twenty-three year old, professional female surfer Luzimara Souza passed away in Fortaleza, Brazil. Luzimara was struck by lightening while surfing at Leste-Oeste beach.

Whoa, that's sad but also strangely prophetic considering that "luz" means "light" and "mar" means "sea". RIP
