Surfing Waves

Going to the DR for my wife’s yoga retreat. She inexplicably (sarcasm, kind of) is hosting it at a beach without waves!

However, I see I can daytrip to los terrenas and Río San Juan from where I will be, very little info on waves there, but allegedly they exist. Anyone???
