Surf Webcams?

I live inland and use webcams to guide my decision about when to take a surf trip. Forecasts are very helpful but don't show the interaction of elements (swell direction, period, tide, wind, current) like a live video feed. Here's an example for Steamer Lane today...

Since Bolinas doesn't have a feed, I look at nearby surfcams to get an idea of what the conditions are like. They're also great to see how surfers adapt as they paddle out, wait, takeoff and ride.

How important are webcams in your assessment of a break?

webcam is the most important thing. If break is too busy, I go somewhere else. Plus forecast is not always right. Sometimes I still go even if the forecast is 1 feet wave. Can be too desperate at times.

You all know I only go to the beach a mile from my house and no web cams available but I drive by it on my way to and from work however on Sunday I just go unless i had to go to work already. In any case I just go to the beach. It was completely flat this morning so if it is flat tomorrow I will likely skip surfing and go Sunday and if no surf then paddle just to keep fit.
