One more wave?

There is something wrong with me. I get sucked into the dreaded "one more wave" syndrome .... every fricken time! At the end of a good sesh I'm hungry for more and hold out for a signature ride. After a poor sesh I'm desperate to prove I'm not that bad and want to end the day with a sense of accomplishment. Either way the outcome's the same. I sit forever, cold and tired. My wave never comes or if it does I can't catch it.
What are my treatment options? Abilify, electric shock therapy?

Where do you surf BoMan? Bo?
It's so easy to have this syndrome at Linda Mar. Where the good wave never comes.

A wife who expects you to be home at a certain time.... works extremely well!

One who waits for you on the beach for you to be in at a certain time works better.......as long as you know how important it is for you to be in at a certain time on that particular day

Ah yes, that happened to me often. But nowadays I somehow know during my last ride it's time to quit.
I've been working on my energy management a lot because the price for getting too tired was getting too high. Maybe that is finally working out?
But it's still work in progress..

Okay BoMan, I will let you in on a secret, so don't tell anyone. I got this tip from working in a sporting goods store that had a Fishing supply section. Experienced fishermen don't say to their wives, " I'm going Fishing ". It's because the fish will hear that and know to stay away from him. Better to say " I'm heading out ".
Same goes for surfing and the waves. If you say " Just one more wave " or " Next, one is my LAST wave ", the waves will hear you and not comply. Better to say to your surf buddies ( or silently to yourself ) , " I'll catch a few, then go in ". Then after catching one, keep riding it all the way in.
Try it !!

Your post reminded my of my dad. He was a first rate fly fisherman who could see a fish jump and drop his hook on that exact spot with one gentle flick of the wrist. He tied his own flies, practiced casting into water-filled buckets and carefully surveyed stream sites like we might study a break. Despite the careful preparation he was superstitious and would save a lucky cigarette that was on his lip when he caught "the big one."
Not sure if I want to go down that path!
