"High volume" Bodyboard - uK?

Postby LittleSkink » Sun Sep 02, 2018 8:28 am

While my young kids improve with their "proper" surfing I am happy to support them and float about with my Bodyboard - however, this summer I was smashed by one wave too many on quite a rough day and my old board is now creased quite noticeably. Still usable but time to look for something stronger I think

The curent board is a 42" Gul Response (one of those cheap EPS ones), its okay but lacks float and I find it a bit small for me (well short of my belly button) - I'm 6ft and well over 75kg these days

Alder Assasin 44" was suggested in one shop but I would prefer something with a stringer this time around. Saw something called a Stealth Bomber, 45" twin stringer at £75, but seems sold out. Decathlon do a pretty 45" model, no idea if its really any good. Other than that struggling to find many other high volume options, looking to stay under £100 if I can and like stuff that lasts

thoughts?

Have a look at the various ranges of beater boards, they are large enough to bodyboard with your kids and then as a first board for them.
They are a pretty good first option, make the whole deal more fun than anything else and you will have family to surf with!

thanks Jaffa, not even considered those as in my head short surf boards are for pros only, Catch Surf dont seem sill expensive but do different sizes

The extra float would be helpful as I often just bob around encouraging / helping my kids and then catch a ride in when a nice wave comes - do they work well just as bodyboard? Better shorter or longer for bodyboard use? I can imaging trying to kneel on one, but not stand - though my kids may try their own thing

Just enjoy it as a bodyboard for you and maybe a kidvas passenger with you.
Since they are light, young and adaptable it would be an easy first learning board.
:D
