Looking for a good beginners shortboard

Postby franny » Wed Aug 31, 2005 1:59 am

I surfed for 2 weeks this summer on an 8' 4" board and got pretty good. I want to ride a shortboard and want a good beginners board, probably around 6' 10". I am 5' 9" and 145. Please post your suggestions. By the way I'm looking for a board under $400.
-thanks for your help

there's not really such a thing as a good 'beginners shortboard'.
if you're sure you're good enough to move down and wanna go shorter id go for a fish, egg or a magic carpet, (my second board after a mini mal was a 6'8 fish). Fishes are easier to duckdive than eggs and magic carpets but it depends what kind of surfing you're into.

What do you think would be better, a fish or like a 6' 8" shortboard?
-thanks

dont get a 6'8" shortie. thats prob a mini-gun, which is a terrible beginners choice. go with a fish if you cant stand a funboard or mini-mal.
