Surf World Tech

Postby BoMan » Thu Aug 09, 2018 4:47 pm

What do you think about more tech in the lineup?

1. Awayco has opened nearly 30 locations worldwide, and for $60 a month, members have access to whatever stick they want--either at home or while looking for waves abroad.
2. Syrf-Lyft would allow drivers with board racks or ample trunk space to charge their fellow surfers for rides to the beach.
3. SURFVR creates a virtual reality surf simulation to master foam-ball sections or lofty punts when the waves are flat.
4. Wearable Wetsuit Technology integrates devices capable of measuring the bend in your knees or the positioning of your hands, which you could compare to data collected on the best surfers in the world in order to see what you need to work on.
5. The Shreadset is supposedly able to electrically stimulate certain parts of your brain responsible for muscle movement and therefore able to accelerate the time it takes to develop muscle memory for a certain physical movement.

Awayco, I wouldn't want to pay in months I wasn't traveling!
Surf lite share rides with friends share cost, but über style no thanks, to many traveling surfers are on jerk holidays.
Virtual reality surf master the game , but do it in real life nah! Just like driving games, get another, no real injury or death. Yeah man I game surfed Nazare, im ready.
Wearable wetsuit with measuring tech, hmm maybe, but knowing Kelly's knee skill does mean you can emulate them. Analysis of your muscle response sets slow or fast twitch muscle might help direct you to,appropriate type of surfing.
Ditto for shredset, but body type and prevail genetics would underpin that.

The human factor, im tech approved for this, so I'm here. Ramping up of entitlement that is not earned in line up.
The imma good skated ,,snowboarder, skate boarder wake surfer. I'm gunna be good at surfing easily!

Maintain the Luddite/ Darwinian surf system!

I wouldn't be interested in any of that stuff but it may have appeal for the masses. I vote for doing away with surf leashes also ......just kidding but it would free up the breaks quite a bit
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Q: What do you think about more tech in the lineup?
A: Zero interest. Life's best pleasures are its simple pleasures.

I had a close call with a loose board yesterday. I was paddling out and turned to avoid it but the current pushed it right at me. I was able to deflect it with my hand. I guess it's more of an issue in Australia.

When there are no leashes you learn to not paddle out inside of other surfers which is what you should do anyway. I guess then in Australia it's okay to smack someone with your board as long as it's on a leash? How silly.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Surfing should have less tech not more.

No EPS Carbon Fiber wrap. No Quad fins. No leash. No board shorts. Just Glide, Trim, and a Pure Line .

But I am for the latest technology for Wetsuits. It's amazing the amount of flexibility and warmth compared to wetsuits of 10 years ago.

the article is light on details, but whatever, man.
I actually coded a functional virtual reality surfing simulator. I had some issues with the physics modeling and performance on the budget phone I used for testing, so I shelved the project until I get better hardware which would include hand tracking.
