Surfing Waves

Or do I need Costume?
Here's my issue: I want a 5.10-6.0 board depending on its shape, Volium of 30.1 - 32.5, based on my calculation and understanding (I could be wrong about this).

I am 5.4, 135 pounds (62 kg) and surf for 5 years now, have a lot of water hours, waves as big as 10ft (that's the highest I'm comfortable with), I have 7 breaks to choose from (all 45min away),
my favorites are, reef fast and hallow, Heavy lipped beach break and 2 other spots which are fun and will act according to swell. It can be just 3ft here if we don't get a Hurrican or a groundswell (I live in Mexico).

My issue is because the last 5 years I've surfed boards which aren't adequate for me, im finally figuring out what I prefer but unclear about dimensions: I figure everything bellows the volume mentioned above won't work in everyday conditions and anything above 6.0 board will be harder for me to maneuver. I dont do airels yet, just working on my carving.
What do you think?

The boards I'm specifically interested in buying are:
Firewire- Midas, - 5' 10" 20 1/8" 2 7/16" 32.1L
Channel Islands #4 groveler- 5.10'' 20'' 2 9/16'' 32.1L
Lost Rocket - 5' 10" 19 1/2'' 2 3/8'' 30.1L

These all are dimensions from their stock boards, will they work with my height/weight?

What do you mean you surfed boards that weren't adequate for you? What have you been surfing? I surf an 8 foot board and it carves pretty good.

What I mean is that I (still have) surf on a 6.9 gun which is made for barreling and for someone heavier than me, and I have a 5.8 that only starts to work at 5ft +.
It's a Forth Nokx by Al Merrick that is very thin (a potato chip).

The first one I got after the longboard because it was "long" and we didn't know any better, we we're living on a shoestring budget and it was a used board. It's great but I cant carve with it. And the second was a gift and in theory, the dimensions looked good for me (my size) but after long water hours I figured out i dont catch any waves if it's below 5ft and weak waves.

I guess my question really is:
If I want 30.1L volume and the manufacturer's website lists that as only available at dimensions 5' 10" 19 1/2'' 2 3/8'' (Lost Rocket) Would i even want to try select custom dimensions? I dont even know what 19 1/2'' 2 3/8'' mean in the significance of Me, surfing.
I just know that volume under 30L probably will narrow my chances of floating on the face. Am I wrong?

For a carving board you want a lot of tail rocker. There are lots of "board" people here so maybe they can help you. I can carve with a 9'6" longboard (it has a lot of tail rocker) so I am not sure why you can't with a much shorter board. I had most of my boards custom made for me. Each board is going to have pluses and minuses but that doesn't mean you can't learn to surf on them. It just means you have to do different things to use them. I hope you can find the right board for you but likely it will amount to learning to use whatever board you have.

tail rocker is curve in the board viewed sideways in the tail area. Tail rocker allows the tail of the board which is mostly what is in the water during a carving turn to have a shorter turning radius. The curving design fits a shorter turning radius better than a board that is flat in the tail. However flat tail boards can carve too but it feels different carving with a rockered board feels more powerful and the less rockered board feels faster zippier. There are books to read or online sites. I am sure you can google tail rocker and find lots of information

sorry but here are some rapid fire thoughts:
1) Forget about "volume" until you learn the more important things in board design. Yes, Volume IS important to fine tune or get you in the ball park. It more a tool for shapers and skilled riders.
2) Volume is just one aspect. Like saying I want a 1000cc. motorcycle. A 1000cc Harley cruiser or a 1000cc. sports bike like a Suzuki GSXR ? ( well, they don't make a 1000cc. dirt MX bike, but you could ask that too. )
3) Like you said you've ridden a 6'8" gun and a 5'8" shortboard. Now you want a 30 liter board. That's like saying the police are looking for a robber that 175 lbs. What if a guy 4'6" and a guy 6'4" weight exactly 175 lbs. a piece ? They both weight he same , but their body type looks totally different. Same for boards.
4) In a shaper's/board brand's own line up, there many many boards at 30 liters, but all will ride differently.
5) A 30 Liter board with Swallow tail will ride different than a 30 liter board with a pin tail.
taper rail vs. full ( boxy ) rails.
30 liter full nose vs. pulled in nose.
30 liter Wide point forward vs. wide point back of center.
30 liter full concave vs. double concave bottom.

Don't be fooled by "Volume".

Watching this guys videos really helped me learn how surfboard shapes work.
