Baja surf trip questions

Hi all, long time no chat. I’m coming up on a year of surfing approximately 3X per week, and I’m planning a trip to LA, then down through San Diego to Baja. I’m still a beginner, not looking for pumping overhead barrels or anything, maybe just some waist high long rights... :)

Any info on Baja would be greatly appreciated. I speak Spanish and own a home in Mexico, so I’m good with the culture, etc, I’m just hoping to get some details about mellow spots, hopefully where my wife can chill nearby while I surf all day. Uncrowded, semi remote spots would be nice, but we are not dirt dogs like we used to be, still need to be close to a decent bed, AC and a place to rent boards.

I was looking at Punta Baja in particular, it looks like there’s a protected right on the inside of the point:

If it were me, I would just stay in SoCal especially SanO for some long waves.

I've never been there but based on google map and surf websites. You will need south storm for the swell to kick in at Punta Baja as it is not facing the pacific directly. Plus it looks like it will be hard to get to without a 4x4. Then it also says it is pretty windy down there most of the time.
