Penhale Corner

Postby sinistapenguin » Wed Aug 24, 2005 4:01 pm

I was doing a bit of digging around to try and find a new spot in the Newquay area - somewhere I hadn't tried before.

I found 'Penhale' on Wannasurf - it's supposed to be less crowded cos of the walk down the dunes. It's also supposed to be more sheltered than other places and holds some good long rights.

I remember talking to a guy in a shop once and he said there was a spot where you had to go through a holiday park and down over the dunes. I'm sure he was talking about Penhale.

Has anyone surfed here? I'm really keen to find out what it's like, but Google isn't coming up with much (at least not photos)

Cheers

Yeah

I've been in at Perranporth lots of times, but apparently the northern end of the beach is more sheltered from the winds and less crowded cos of the walk down the dunes.

Think I'll try it when I go down!

Yeah I've surfed Penhale a few times, its through the holiday camp and a walk down the dunes (return journey up not quite so swift tho!). Never seen it crowded, rights and lefts, no specific main peak, cool tho 8) .
Do make sure you go to the reception to get a parking permit (about £2 I think) or they will clamp you - I think a season permit costs same as a day ticket so... .
