Okay what is it with surfers who don't use
leashes? The other day this girl bailed and her surfboard rocketed right at me, and hit me in the head. What's the point of not having a leash? I mean do they think it makes them look tough or something? Is it like how skaters don't wear helmets? I know they can be annoying, but they are for your safety, and the safety of those around you.

Finally someone knows what its like and how one person being a dumbass can wreck a trip. My firend and i were out in california for 2 weeks and the first day, literally the first or second wave some idiot flys off his board with no leash and the board hit my friend right in the chest somehow. He was messed up and looking foward to these two weeks ended up beig a complete bust.

I'll remove my leash on a really small weak surf day - cuts down on the drag. Never if there is a chance of hitting someone with it though.

Yeah, if i'm the only one out on a weak day, i'll lose the leash, but if someone else paddles out or if anyone starts swimming, i'll put it back on.

the leash does cause drag, but yeah kids around OC california...yeah, they think they're like the pros and shite when they are pretty kooky still. ill take off my leash off my longboard when its not crowded, and if it is crowded really bad then ill put on a short leash so i can grab it just in case it might smack someone
