Surfing A Beginners Guide

Postby surf patrol » Sun May 20, 2018 1:10 pm

Sometimes people send things to be reviewed. I've just finished writing one for Surfing: A Beginners Guide third edition. You can read the review here if you are interested).

As I was having a look through the book I had a double take at the surfboard fin page. Is it me or is there more than a little similarity between the images in the book and the images I created for the fin section on this very site.

Here's the first one

OK, pretty basic image, not really many places to go with this representation. Don't really have an issue with this one, and if it was just this image I would not have looked twice.

Here's the second.

This one is remarkably similar. Almost exactly the same image.

Here's the third image

The legend has been swapped but the colours are exactly the same.

Is it me or are the book images blatant copies from this site?

Here's a snapshot of those two pages from back in 2007, courtesy of the wayback archive.

It's not the same images but perhaps copied from this site and altered to make them enough different :)
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

For you UK folks, how do you translate “Ya bloody bastxxd” to American English ? Because that is what that writer is.
That right there is a blatant rip-off. They could have at least change the colors on the fin.

LOL....you really can't plagiarise anymore......take a snippet of any suspect passage and google it....your true source will come up right away.

What is your next move SurfPatrol? Will you inform the publisher? The site that asked you to do the review?
