what are good brand names for surfboards? Kind of like the burton (snowboards) of surfing. I know of Peter Pan and Rusty's and heard they are really good. Any other great ones? Thanks.

Learn to look at shapes and construction rather than names. Buying a board is like buying a custom suit from a taylor. Figure out what works for you, and then find a taylor who can suit you.
-- Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe that's "tailor" -- knew a couple tailors who where "Taylors."
I'm new at all this, but I can look at a shape, look at the rails, edges. Look at stringers, volume, weight of glass on the foam core . . .
A board is like a melody . . . Or like a nice babe who makes you feel good. Hard to describe, takes some shopping around.
And there's a zillion girls out there who can make you happy. But no one gets upset if you own more than one board.
*LMAO*

Agree with Wavejunkie
Get a board thats suited to your height/weight and level of proficiency rather than a sexy looking brand name performance board which wont do you any good if you cant handle it.
Support your local shapers. Chances are they do pretty good work.
