Awesome forum guys, I’ve been lurking for a wee while.
So a while ago I saw a post from another kiwi who was shifting to the UK, and I’m in the same situation.
I visited with my pommy surf widowed wife, originally from Manchester. It was a cool visit, and kicked off some home sick pangs for her, having kids etc and beING a distant from her olds is getting hard out I reckon.
When we visited I wa taken around various surf spots, we covered heaps of kms and got from scarbourgh and Cayton bay, down to Norwich, over to devon (croyde) and Cornwall.
I went during the middle of ‘summer’

Cornwall - super fun but SUPER crowded. Probably some super cool hidden breaks but never found them. Local blokes fairly chill but not super friendly.
Devon - Had the best swell of the trip, 5ft and offshore at croyde. Although it felt more like 4ft for 90% of the time. Super fun at low tide, it hollowed out beautifully! Found a couple of other beachies that were fun esp when I managed to rent a longy! Surfers were friendly out of the water, rightly secret about their lesser known spots.
Norwich - No swell when I rolled up, super friendly people. Went to a mustard factory shop. But apparently it can go good when she’s on?
Scarborough/Cayton Bay - by far the most fun place! Super friendly surfers. Caught a 3 ft swell in Cayton that I was rented a fish for and had a mellow blast. Surfed a 3 ft swell at north bay on a longy which was awesome. Couple of hidden reefies which weren’t really hard out going but you could see how they’d go!
So basically, I was wondering for the local poms, where would you focus on trying to relocate to if you were coming to the uk. I’ve not seen a lot of surf scenes, but am I way off the mark with my experiences?
