Never done this but I’m thinking about starting. Sometimes I have to relearn lessons I should have remembered from experience or muscle memory. If you make session notes, what info goes in?

This is a good idea for those who have the luxury of picking when and where they go out (not me)

I also make a note if I was stoked by the session and then later use the notes for some stats and graphs like this:

If you are working on some aspect of surfing I would write about that. for instance "Took off behind the peak jammed a good bottom turn and was able to get back up on the lip"....or whatever it is you are working on. Anything fun or not fun happened I would write about that for instance " got dropped in on by shortboarders 20 times today" or whatever :)

I’m going to try it at least for the winter. I want to know my limits more precisely with respect to the hour, tide, wind, wave size, period and the board I’m using. Keeping track of the stoke is also a good idea!

Lately I’ve spent all my time just having fun and it wouldn’t kill me to have one goal for each session…so I’ll work on that too. The Latest Surfs thread is your journal and an excellent one at that. :D
