need some opinions on buying this board!!!

Postby waveygirl813 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 5:35 pm

So i've been in search of a new board and came across one on ebay for about $250, it's a '96 Rip curl thruster, Hamish shaped and 6'3.

Can't seem to find any reviews or ratings for this surfboard and was hoping someone could give me some advice as to its quality or if it's overpriced.

Hope someone can give me something to go on!!

It's 11 years old. I can't see how it is likely to be worth $250.....maybe it was never used and stored in a light free temperature controlled environment? but if you are a beginner then that is probably not the board for you
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Unless it's new, I would be very reluctant to purchase any board online. All my boards have been purchased used in person, and even then, I've messed up a couple times overlooking issues(although small issues, they should've been things I noticed). Buying online would increase the risk of getting "hosed" with a POS and then being left on the hook for shipping it back for a refund(if they even offer one). Not sure where you are located but craigslist is a good source for used boards around my area, you should look into that or check out a surf shop around your local, they may have some used boards for sale.

Does it have Glassed-On fins ?

Is it 18 inches wide ?

What size is your current board ?
