Hey guys. Well just really gonna ask for a bit of advice from people. Me and 5 mates are off down to cornwall [UK] for a week primarily for holiday but also for surf. The place were staying has surf hire facilities, so i was really wondering what people would suggest doing. Ive surfed before but not in a long time, but a couple of mates havent at all. Reckon we should get a bit of tuition while were there (were only students though, small budget lol) or hire what kind of boards etc. any thoughts would be appreciated. cheers, D.

Not really great advice, but more of a warning. I went down to Cornwall, Bude, all of last week to go surfing and only the Friday was at all worthwhile. It may have just been an off week, but I would say if you intend to rent gear, check the days conditions and maybe only hire on a daily basis. I had my own board etc.... but would have been bummed if i'd spent £50+ on stuff for the week and not used it.

My advice would be go and look at the conditions before you hire.

If it looks decent then hire a board & wetsuit for a couple of days, then check the conditions again and hire again if you want.

You don't NEED to get lessons, it depends on what you want to get out of it - if you just want a laugh I would just rent & go. If you actually want to learn to surf, then get a lesson!!

Cheers
