Surfing Waves

I've been asked for some advice on board care, so here goes:

For the most part, board care is fairly obvious. Don't bash your board about too much, transport it in a bag. With custom boards, I would recommend a bag at least 5mm thick.

Put some padding of some kind on roofracks before tying the board down, always put some padding between boards if transporting more than one (or put them both in board bags).

Don't store it in direct sunlight for long periods - this can discolour the foam and weaken the glass (or so I've heard).

When stripping wax off, use a wax comb or old credit card, but make sure the edges are smooth, you don't want to scratch the board. Do NOT, as I did with my first custom board, think - 'hey boiling water would melt this wax right off' I knackered the glass on the deck of my board doing this and ended up with lovely yellow foam.

Try not to stand it on it's tail. It looks very cool when you see people come up the beach and wedge their boards into the sand so they stand on their own. I saw someone do this once and there was a pebble under the sand, he smashed his tail to bits!!.

If you are going to store it in its bag, try and let it dry off first - this doesn't help with the care of it, but it makes it smell nicer next time you come to get it out.

Ideally always put your board on something soft.

ive heard a good tip for getting wax off is just to lay it in the sun for a few hours then use the credit card

Unfortunately where i live there is never any sun

If you do ding your board repair it straight away - don't give to foam time to soak up water.
If your board has FCS fins make sure you take them out when transporting your board - it only takes 30 seconds and might just save a trip to your local ding repairer.
Be really careful when you enter the water - make sur your first duckdive is not straight onto the rocks or reef.

what i do is i heat up my wax comb in some hot water next to me, then i dry it off, so no water can damage the board, then i scrape off the wax.

keep the hot water near you so you can keep dipping the comb in so it stays warm and can get the wax off easier !!

my tip, to you guys

for the wax i use the phon and a credit cerd whit the care of not to shoot the flow of hot air in the same point for long time.another important care is:when you go out look for any creepe or crash on your board..if you find it before going into the water you can repair it in few minute using "solarez"or something else.in this way you can save your foam from water infiltraction and you will sell less money for repair
