A Warning to all Surfers - Thieves about

PostPosted: Wed May 04, 2005 3:11 pm

This is a warning as the summer approaches. Surfers have been increasingly targeted over the last few years as easy pickings.

PLEASE BE AWARE!

Don't leave your kit lying around and stop leaving your key under your car wheel arch. Its easy pickings for opportunists. Popular beach carparks and some camp sites are hot sports for this thievery. Don't let it be you and look out for others.

If you have been a victim or know of any goings on please post here about and make it known.

Together we can try to catch out these buggers, by recognising kit thats been stolen and someones trying to flog it. Don't give them the chance.

Great site. Very funny. How do I pronounce it, as in chav (like Chev but with an 'a' or is it different?
Curious...

It is pronounced Chev with an a.
Chavs - the plague that's sweeping the nation.

And my horizon is suitably broadened. We have a similar sub-species here...and I'm soooo not going there.
Cheers.

stop leaving your key under your car wheel arch

..still amazes me when i see someone doing this , cause they look at you and kinda wink as if only you and they know about this cunning hiding place

.... normally i just put my car key on my chain around my neck and tuck it down the back of my wetty ! . Ya cant feel it there and if the chain does break you'll sure as hell know if that key starts moving around your wetty ... hehe " yoww "

Best place for it dudes and dudettes

I used stash the key under the wheel arch until quite recently but now keep it in my wetty key pocket. I bit the bullit and sacrificed the torch on my key! Its a big chunky BMW key with a built in torch on it - that doesn't shine any more now  , but at least my car is always there at the end of each sesh!

Key pocket

Easiest and best is a velcro close key pocket in your trunks. I've used one for 7 years now, never had anything better or more secure. Hiding it, just a matter of time til someone takes your ride, or trashes it.
