Surfboards size

Postby Bipodapo » Thu Mar 23, 2017 12:57 pm

Hello !
I have bought the flash 5"7 fcs board.
My height is 1.75 meter.
I am concern about the board that it might not be good for me .
I would like to hear your advise and opinion.

Thanks!

Hah

Why ask after you bought it?! It's yours now; go out and put it to the test.

To be really able to tell if that board is suited for you we'd need to know your level of surfing, your weight (more important than height), where/what kind of waves you surf and how big, if you wear a wetsuit, what the full dimensions and type of board the 5'7" (I tried a 5'8" that had 43L....some grommy boards are 5'7" and have 20-21L). Quick answer is that board is relatively small, regardless of the liters contained and if you're asking here whether it suits or not I'd guess that the answer would be no, that board is not good for you.

Give answers to the above questions and those better versed than me can give you some insights.

My weight is 78 and the volume of the surfboards is 41 litters.
The board is soft tech.
I am an average surfer.

Benny likes his. I consider myself not very good and I have a 36L board I ride in good waves and a 40L in average waves....boards I have are longer (6.2 and 6.4) but Im 46 and 92kg.

What are your concern(s). That the board is:
1) too short for your height
2) too small for your ability
3) too "loose"
4) too hard to paddle

An "average" surfer in my part of the world, should be able to easily surf 41 liters, in appropriate waves.

My concern is that the board is too short, and too hard to paddle
41 little is a lot and this is a softboard.

"Too short" ? Comparing it to the board you rode before ? So what size board did you normally ride ?
"Too hard to paddle" ? Soft boards have Fat and Full rail lines, should paddle easier compared to a 5'7" hard board with tapered rails.
"41 liters is a lot" ? Then if it's "a lot", then there shouldn't be a problem for you a "average" surfer.

Question: Did you try out similar or other soft boards or a friends' 5'7" board BEFORE you bought this board ?
