Solo Ding Repair

Postby icetime » Fri Feb 24, 2017 9:35 pm

Starting surfing with my new PU 5'10 shortboard, after a few sessions some girl ran me over but I turtle rolled just in time and she sliced the bottom of my board with her fin it was a pretty bad ding and I got it fixed by a surfschool owner for $20, I was wondering if I should eventually get myself some resin and fix my future dings on my own if they've not very large.
What advice would you guys give on fixing dings and what kind of equipment would I need other than resin.
Quiver: Victory epoxy fish shortboard 6'6", KaiShapes Custom Shortboard 5'10"
Tech savvy guy, don't hesitate to PM for help as long as you return the favour with surfing advice ;)

Laminating resin, catalyst, squeegee, fiberglass, qcell which is to mix with resin and patch holes in the foam, and some chopped up fiberglass to fill in areas requiring strength, 3 grades of sandpaper coarse medium and fine wet sand. A sanding block, tape to tape off the patches newspaper to catch spills. then you might want to get finishing resin as well and a some solar ez for polyurethane foam for quick patches. Also some acetone to cleanup the board before repairs and everything else after repairs and before the resin hardens (if you got the resin somewhere you didn't want it) Then get epoxy resin for the other board
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

The good news is you can get a kit that has all that stuff from Amazon or other internet sellers such as Surfing waves above https://surfing-waves.com/Browse/surfing-accessories/surfboard-repair-kits/
