Mini- Step up

Hey guys!! Happy New year to all!

A few updates from me- finally out of the moonboot ( :woot: ) and been walking around for 1 month now.
There was a 26cm flexability difference between my left and right archillies tendons when I came out of the boot so there's a long way to go, but have gained about 6cm back in the last 2 weeks with exercises, and start physio again next week.
The physio said I could surf in August (  ) but will see I guess, I had thought it would be more around April from what the hospital told me.

Update 2: Prior to seeing the physio, I took my inflatable 9'10 paddleboard for several spins in early Jan (still wearing the moonboot with all the heel raises in it) and caught my first wave in 8 months! A proper un-broken waist-chest high pearler! I couldn't believe how natural my instincts kicked back in and shuffled back on the board to keep the nose out and ride the wave away. I also couldn't believe how well in the inflatable board with flexy plastic fins and 6" thick rails held in the wave! Was such an amazing feeling to be surfing again!
The physio sternly told me that it would not be acceptable to try and paddleboard in a moonboot when I asked him (he didn't know I'd already done it).

Update 3:
While having lots of time on my hands to not spend in the water, I came across this deal for a resin8 6'4 mini gun. After lots of research and thinking, I thought it would make the perfect addition to my quiver as I didn't have a proper shortboard or step up from my new 5'9 and 6'6 fish. I opted to get the 6'4 x 18 1/4 x 2 1/2 model. It's interesting to see the dimensions as the nose are nearly 3" more narrow and even the tail is 1.5" more narrow- so a proper step. The interesting thing to note is that the front rocker is actually the same as my 5'9 but that the back rocker is about 8mm more.
I used to love my 6'3 step up but that was 19.5 wide and a bit much volume for me to duckdive on big days.
Although I wont be able to use this for several months, I'm excited to have it in my quiver for our west coast when it's often steep and heavy.
It's $300 brand new and apparenrly good construction.
It's shaped by wade tokoro who apparently is well known in Hawaii?

Enough so that the guy in the photo happens to order boards from Wade when he does contest in Hawaii even though he's a sponsored rider for DHD (Darren Handley ) surfboards.

Ooo interesting.

I think these boards are quite
Old and hence the cheap price but I like the look of the 6'4 and it should be about the volume for me without being too long or too short. Can't wait to feel it over!

Ever riden a resin8 board wkk?
I think it will work well on our west coast in 4ft+ days

Had a bunch in our shop, sold some. We used to flip the demo board over and jump up and down on it ( just copying the Resin8 ad ). I never rode one, so can't give you a review. But agreed, they must be very old stock.

Soo I got a bit carried away and brought 2 boards.. $300 each for an ex $1200 board was too cheap!

Here are some pics of the 6'4, it's pretty refined and curvy.
I also got tempted and Brought a Sam Egan 6'1 x 18 5/8 x 2 3/8!
It looked like it would make a wicked everyday beach break board for our west coast.
Quite different bottom designs between the two.
The 6'4 is a light single to double (about half way up the board) to a light vee out the tail.
The 6'1 seems to just have a light single concave throughout, maybe even a flat exit tail.
Still quite a refined nose and squash tail

Without wax, fins or leash, sure
They do seem strong, the guy in the shop was standing in the upside down.

It's kind of interesting going back to buying a board with no volume on it!

I could always just paddle them round the shore haha
