I always bring a body board when it’s too hollow for my longboard skills or to skim after a sesh….but I’ve never tried this. Have you?

I have played around in backwash but nothing as big as that. Long ago I would occasionally make a running jump with surfboard from the beach then stand and ride the backwash out for several yards in relative to that tiny backwash.

haven't seen backwash that explosive. But, I have surfed backwash 1/3 the way to the outback at Santa CruZ's 38th street at high tide. The waves bounce back off the rock cliff and it's ride-able while standing. Quite a kick!

Strong backwash can be destructive for surfers and the beach.
