Surfing Waves

Hi all, i am thinking of buying a shortboard, im going from a 6ft 10 fish, but will still be using this, i want the shortboard to progress onto, and for bigger waves were fast bottom turns are priority, i would prefer a board that is good performance from 2 to 6ft waves.
At the min it is between the fourth doofer and stoker, also had a look at an ABC custard mustard today which is much cheaper, any used boards i looked at are pretty dinged.
Im surfing mainly ireland beach breaks, but would like soon to try easier reefs in nice conditions, any help would be appreciated cheers

I don't have any suggestions but I am posting this to put this on the latest list. One thing I can tell you is the board you get may be high performance but that doesn't mean you can surf it with high performance. The performance part comes from you and not the board.

1) How's your backside bottom turns on the 6'10" fish ?
2) How about stepping down to a 6'2 Retro fish / Hybrid before going to a full blown short board ?

Yes i had been thinking about that just recently, bottom turns are improving, but still work to do, the shoŕt board is intended to be a long term investment for progressing though

Well when you reach that level, THEN get it. It's like you enjoying your 80cc. MX or 250cc street bike than putting down money on a 400cc MX or a 1000cc hyper super bike. Go in steps maybe to a 125 MX or 500cc street. You'll probably get hurt and embarrassed trying to ride a bigger bike than your skills allow.
