So I got a bit carried away and brought something I should've.. Or maybe I should've?
It was the combination of only being 7'6, 114l, able to handle waist mush to + double over head and also coming with all the gear that sealed it!
I also Thought it might be good for my Archillies movement rehab further down the track or even paddling on my knees.
Anyone know this specific model or any feedback?

Dont know much about SUPs but I think the shorter ones are meant to be surfed on waves pretty much like a surfboard (probably Laird Hamilton's fault) and arent altogether great on flat water. Which is fine; so long as you use it in the right place.

and with that sharp nose, I wouldn't take it in a river either.

I don't know anything about rehabing your achiles but those links take like forever to open so I got bored and didn't look. If you are getting a SUP it might be good for rehabbing. You can take your time popping up on an SUP and you don't need to popup to ride a wave since you are already popped up (although in the beginning you will popup several times for every wave you ride). If you are planning on knee paddling it with or without the paddle that should be good. They are very wide but you can probably get a good knee paddle in, I have seen guys who surf them without the paddle.

Why specifically for a river? It will probably only be used on the flat sea or waves bit still curious

benj,
i don't know that SUP. But, I have two SUPs. One is 9ft 8in. The other is 11ft. The short one is for surfing. The long one is for long distance and small surf. Even though I have these SUPs, I rarely use them. They just don't interest me like traditional wave surfing does. Partially, I don't like them because it is too easy to catch waves with them.
SUPs, however, provide a lot of good exercise. One guy I know used his for physical therapy following a badly broken leg and hip. This is a different kind of injury than you have. So, I do not know if it is good for you or not.
You will find even more so than with my shorter SUP that short SUPs are:
1. twitchy,
2. not easy to paddle long distances, and
3. good for surfing.
Here's a fun tip: sit u on it with knees drawn up, then use kayak paddle to cover great distances.
Let me know if you like SUP.

First time I see that. Nice!
But I don't agree with the exit strategy, I would think an aerial 180 is the way to exit...

Personally, I'd rather just cruise down an interesting river rather than ride a stationary patch of whitewater. I could see myself on a SUP somewhere in Canyonlands, if it's even possible to SUP there, or maybe floating on something in parts of Paria Canyon. Maybe one day we'll have the chance to hike down Glenn Canyon once again.

heh I don't think you can spin a SUP that fast, so most likely you'll end up parallel to the wave and fall off

Hey guys, what size single fun should I buy for my sup? It's 7'6 x 29 x 4 1/4.
I have no idea about singles for sup's?
It came with quad fins

If you're going to be in the waves, that's the way you should keep it.
Why you want to make it a single, especially since it's a shorter high perfornance SUP ?

No real reason I guess, I've just only seen or tried sup's with singles. I thought it might've been a lot of board for just the small quad fins? It's got a big centre fin slot and I think comes with one from factory with some side bites.
Just wondered what singles people with sup's go for or whether it's similar as long boards ie ride an 8" fin for an 8 foot board etc

I also probably won't be up to riding it in proper waves for quite a while with my leg so more than likely just flat paddling until then

But those small fins are more effective and have more "grip" closer to the rail on such a wide board on a wave.

If your board was a Flat-water or Touring, You'd probably use a single. But yours is a full on Surf Sup. But try put on a 8" fin and see how it goes.

Thanks wkk. Out of curiosity, how do you think the single fin would handle compared to the quads and what would it excel in? Would it be more stable, turn better etc?
I've never really tried going from a thruster or quad to a single fin on a surfboard so not really sure what to expect or what the advantages / disadvantages are?
Cheers
