Surfing Waves

I`m not a pro surfer, just came across jet powered boards and wondered, what is your opinion on that? I`m on vacation in the Caribbean and saw a guy riding a board with no waves, sort of a water skate board on steroids. I like surfing because of freedom and the workout, would getting a powered board do away with that?

NO but the people who you joined in the line up would do away with you
call me old fashioned but i would rather not have to breath motor fumes while I'm surfing and I don't surf where it is big enough to require powered assistance.
Imagine a wipe and the weight of one of them bouncing through the line up, if there was a leash it would probably be towing a torn off leg with it.
Fortunately in Australia PWC (personal water craft read jetskis and these ) are not allowed within 300 metres of a standard surf line up or swimmers.
We have a few try hards attempt to come into our break the verbal abusive has been off the richter and enough to send them scuttling our beach is 9 kilometres long so plenty of elsewhere to be!

with a jet powered board you don't need to go to where there are waves but if it offered advantages without significant disadvantages over other forms of surfing in the waves then it would be more popular

I can barely tolerate jet skis, powerboats, and those airplanes that fly overhead advertising rides along the coast all day long. We already got the Silverados on the march with this kind of thing http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/05/busin ... ovoke.html . Do we really need gasoline powered surfboards as well?

Walden used to make those but the've discontinued them, and refurbished the overstock boards back to normal ones and selling them at a discount. I can see the need to for jet ski tow-ins in remote areas (where I won't be around) but those... I was pretty disturbed to see all the jet skis and the boats towing wakeboarder and tube riders ALL DAY LONG while I visited the beautiful lakes region of New Hampshire. I really hope those don't show up in my lineup.

Unless you're surfing 50ft waves I don't think you're gonna need a jet on a stick, plus we all agree that the smell of burning gasoline isn't enjoyable when surfing.
I've had a jetski annoy me when I was surfing they passed right over the peak and kept asking me questions before blowing out the best wave of the set and leaving me there sad.

I rode one in Mexico in a bay. It was really fun and your thighs (and bum!) really get a work out because you can go forever on one (as long as you don't fall off). Having said that, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be taken to too kindly in the line-up and you're liable to run someone over with that thing!
