Just wanting to possible start a thread about the upcoming big tournament in Jaco. Organizers predict a 100,000 person turn out, up from 70,000 spectators at last event. Any one coming as a contestant? Anyone coming as a spectator?
Jaco is a break for experienced surfers and more than a few here have lost their lives so use caution and go south for softer waves if your skill level is not very high. . Also have been a big rise in Cocodrilla (Crock) attacks. Stay out of the river mouth and surrounding estuaries, The Zika Virus is here so use mosquito repellent. The casinos are wall to wall with most beautiful hookers you will find, so bring lots of condoms, Do not look for drugs, you may regret what happens.There are LOTS of surf shops so renting a board is better than air freight getting it here. Watch your speed limit if driving this is one big police racket but I never have a problem with the cops, they bribe me! lol $10.00- $20.00 will get you out of anything
On a side note for those going to Brazil for the Olympics and planning on surfing good luck, you will catch less water born disease and virus's in your local septic tank. The place is beyond contaminated (river water entering the ocean is now 70% raw sewage) and many athletes are pulling out of the games, This Olympic is already predicted as going down in sports history as the biggest flop ever. Some countries should never host the Olympics and Brazil will prove this to be true. Great that surfing is FINALLY an Olympic sport!
