Took my 10 year old and we got lessons up at The Wall in Hampton Beach, NH courtesy of Cinnamon Rainbows. The boy was up and riding once we figured he rides Goofy not regular. Me? I remembered what I had learned 40 years ago, although the muscles weren't quite up to par.I almost got up before I ran out of wave energy, sets were running about 1-foot beach break. I did have fun and watched my son learn that surfing is amazing. He has already asked for his own board and when our next trip will be.

One of the great pleasures of a surfing parents life is to be able share waves with your kids.
When you go from being the teacher to the old kook in the family

Great story, dacsus! :surfing:
Thank you for sharing. There's another aspect our forum buddies may not be in the know about because we are distributed world wide. The beautiful State of New Hampshire (NH) possesses approximately 16 km (10 miles) of ocean coastline. So, finding surf along such a short coastline is the first trick for a successful surfing safari.
best to your family and you,

Gorgeous country up there.....I got diving certified just south of there in Rockport MA...saw a seal during one of the certification dives and the water temp was 41*F, air temp 39*F with snow flurries.

Don't miss the flurries.

I have a sash already requested by my 7 & 8 year old girls for Sunday morning....I'm not pushing it on them but let it be known anytime they want I will take them to the beach with some boards. They are asking more and more.

This must have been a great day indeed. I wanted to bring my 14yo daughter to windsurfing, but instead she braught me to surfing. It is wonderful to be out together in the lineup, chat a bit and chasing waves togehter.

I truly enjoy the sessions that I get to surf with my 16 and 12 yr olds. Such special times when we can spend together over a shared passion. I see many a happy surfing parent child pair at my local break as well. Hope you too have great many years of sharing waves with your son. :surfing:

I've visited coastal New England around Jennes Beach NH to Old Orchard Beach ME in my pre surfing days. It was so beautiful with sand spreading for seemingly forever .

I have 4 offspring, so far the boy (the youngest) is the only other surfer but one of his older sisters (the eldest) expressed an interest. So if her schedule ever permits, she'll be out there to try it. I've been body-boarding with the boy for a couple of years and we always enjoy hanging out in the water. This is just an added dimension.

Jenness Beach is just north of the Wall, it was pretty crowded the last couple of times I've been up there. The beaches are really nice though.
