Beginner/intermediates on a Five-fin

Postby waikikikichan » Thu Jul 07, 2016 10:17 pm

An old post had the comment "I was told I should get a Five-fin"

Well yesterday, after surfing and showering off in the parking lot, the guy next to us had a nice round nose swallow tail fish shape. He turned it over and it had ALL five fins installed. I asked him about it and he said those are the fins it came with. I told him you either ride with 3 fins or 4 fins but not 5. " well it make it easier to turn ?" was his response. Upon closer inspection, I realized the back 3 fins were 4.5" while the fronts were 4.2" quad trailers. Not only had he installed all 5 fins but put it in the hardest combination possible. Well at least they were facing the right direction.

Looks like someone will try to turn and end up falling off their whole session then blame the board

I am going to have to try my five fin board with all 5 fins in. should be interesting.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Could have been one of Greg Griffins boards. He makes lots of fishes and makes his own fins for his boards. Some of them are five finned and supposedly ride well.
