Vaseline and wetsuits are natural enemies, it corrodes neoprene and does corrode the fibres in some rash tops!
You can be assured of epic spectacular wipeouts if any gets on your board.
If the rashy is clean and well fitted and not tucked into your boardshorts but hanging loose it should be ok.
Under a wetsuit might be a different problem but pull it up slightly so there is no tug on it from the wetsuit.
See how you go!

Unusual, but I'm gonna disagree with Jaffa on this one

Back in the day when I use to surf in 5mm wetsuits in the UK – and not particularly expensive suits either so the neck wasn't properly hemmed – I'd get terrible rashes around the neck after a few hours surfing in cold water. The answer? Vaseline. Standard practise when surfing in cold water and in thick wetsuits - vaseline from the collar bone to below the chin.

AND THEN WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE GOING SURFING!!!!

Never had an issue with it corroding the neoprene, and some of my winter wetsuits lasted years. Still got one of them in fact, in a plastic crate and unused for the last 10 years!

Hmmmmmm! Might only be Vaseline crotch rot then that I've seen then.
But definitely wash your hands after using Vaseline.

Question, is the rash guard made from Polypro ? Or is it your basic Lycra ?
