9ft and counting...

The swell from Tropical Cyclone Winston, which has been around all week, is beginning to really do it's thing. It's the biggest swell I've seen on the Gold Coast, and bigger than I've seen anywhere in a good few years.
At first light it was around 6ft, now it's up to around 8-9ft (double overhead +, a two-storey building worth of wave), and the big pulse hasn't even got here yet. The beaches are closed and totally maxed out. The points are blown out now, but even this morning, very few people were making any progress due to the tsunami-strength sweep along the whole of the Goldie.
Tomorrow we're forecast to get a pulse of around 12ft at 16s and - combined with the high tide - significant damage to the coastline
Think I'll sit the surf out tomorrow
