they drop in on you snake you dont give a damn about anyone else in the water i got hit by a few last year not a nice experance, i then saw the same guy knock down a bunch of little kids in the white water

they just have no control once that wave takes them thats it they lose all control and will take down anyone in there way

if it happens agian this yeah im gonna rip the spary deck off and sink the batards

They never ever miss a wave...so listen to the guy steering if he says get out of the way. They can steer it to a certain extent, but I would never get on a wave with a canoe even if its 40 ft away. After surfing at a break called "Canoes", known for having lots of canoe surfers, for many years I have gotten used to them and the canoes are just a part of the usual lineup. Just hope you don't get hit by one.

Aloha!

Here they're called "goat-boats"
We hate them, they are usually driven by un-aware fresh water canoeist types and other bearded teva-sandle wearers...
They take off on everything they can and when they loose control they do so big-time, floundering sideways in the white water with their paddles like weapons trailing them via their attachment cords. Yea, we love em.

I don't know, I suspect it's an Australian term from the language. Any of you Aussies know?

canoes dont belong in the same spots as surfers. they need to just go down the beach to less populated areas. they could care less who they run over, so i agree with whoever said just tip them over.

Ah the age old goat boat bashing thread!

There are very few who can control themselves on waves and untll they can do that they should not be anywhere near other users in my opinion. Too many times have I had very near misses because of a boater out of control all over the place. And I seen many that have kit other people. Bloody dangerious.

they generally dont have any control, any clue about water etiquette and they bloody well hurt when they hit you.

im not aggressive in the water, drop ins happen etc. but goat boaters generally have no idea about snaking, dropping in etc. they never have control of what they are doing and dont seem to give a sh*t really!

they usually come in packs of ten or more (perhaps for protection in numbers) and usually i just go and find somewhere else when they are nearby which can be really annoying when its going off-although if its going off i usually end of staying and they generally move when big groups of surfers are nearby!

fair play to them though, i know a very good stand up and sponger and he tried a canoe-he found it really hard

Trouble is, with their huge paddles, they go for each set and then are back out in the line up for the next, and, guess what, they go for that too, what part of 'taking your turn' don't they understand. By the way, I only know them as 'Egg Whisks'!!
