one surprising board to have in your quiver

Damn, before it was only beginners and newbies using them. But since Jamie O'brien used them at Pipe, now everyone is starting to have a sponge in their quiver. Even a big wave Peahi charger. Costco better stock them up come Spring.

People have been using them in this neck of the woods for years - in Sydney (and other places I imagine), surfers use them to get round the 'no hard boards' rules at Bondi and Tamarama, and I used to see them a lot at maroubra when suicidal loonies would surf them in the beachdump into basically zero water
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio

I understand you. When your the only one in the line up with a "sponge" it's a bit strange. Your having fun, but it's like watching a funny movie by yourself. Have to turn that singular " I " into a " WE ", then it gets fun. When a bunch of friends all have sponges, major drop-ins, tackles, pull-in to un-makeable closeouts and all sorts of craziness goes off.

No way! I was out today in solid 17sec head high waves and thought I saw a guy on a foamie. Looked soo out of place but then I realised his board had some paint job that made it look like a foamie haha. Didn't see him get any waves though

There's one foam thing I'd like to have:

Would be fun in closeuts as a bodyboard, and I might try kneeboarding or even standing up on it sometimes.
