Well perhaps I no longer qualify as a surfer
1) not true but may have been long ago but only for some girls ....others could use my surfboard if they wanted to
2) I wear an aloha shirt and long pants and shoes to work. But long ago getting dressed for me was to put on a shirt and for somewhere fancy I wore slippers.
3) I would be willing to give surf lessons...but if the waves were good........Who could expect me to give lessons then?
4) This is just silly surfers need to sleep somewhere
5) What better quality time then time spent surfing?
6).....just don't get this one.....how could you not see my best rides?
7) I definitely don't qualify as a surfer based on this one....I went to 8 years of college, 4 without surfing except on school breaks
8) Hmmm.....this is just silly
9) So what????? Isn't that normal?
10) When I am not working I most often wear a belt, something I never wore when I was 16
11) So that is why I am here because wife won't talk surfing
12) and this is supposed to be bad?
13) I surf on a schedule entirely not swell related so definitely don't qualify as a surfer here
14) true I guess
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Every surfer is different and the only way to group them together is just by the fact they surf. Otherwise you will leave some out of the equation. So this was obviously satire but based on surfer stereotypes meaning perhaps there are a lot of surfers who would be the character they are talking about. But not me for most of that however I am married 30 years now so it matters little in this article since I don't date.

Although let's face it, if all the above points were true none of us would want to have partners as it would hinder on one of the above points haha

Back during my sedentary existence in another life, I remember riding with my girlfriend along the Great Highway, a stretch of road that allows good views of Ocean Beach in San Francisco. There were triple overhead sets firing and the waves were incredible. I didn't see anyone out, though, because it was just about dusk. I pulled into the parking lot at the south end of the Great Highway to simply watch the waves. There was one surfer out who was ripping. I was kind of in awe of this guy for surfing alone at dusk in huge Ocean Beach and for his obvious surfing skill. The whole time, however, my GF just kept badgering me to go. I remember wondering how anybody could not want to sit there and watch this spectacle till the end. She watched for a courtesy 3 minutes, but that was enough for her. It reminded me of the day I got my one and only overhead barrel while another GF of mine was on the beach. When I asked her if she saw my barrel, it became clear that she had never even looked up from her magazine. So it goes dating non-surfers.

My wife was a surfer and this is really funny to her. A lot of this is pretty accurate, but we are adults now. We don't decide to date people based on their passions. The down side of begin an adult, it that you have to be prepared for an eventual breakup with somebody. It doesn't matter if it's a friend or a girl/boy, sometimes these things happen and you have to be prepared for them. If you are asking me, I am always looking for the bright side

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/03/never-date-a-surfer_n_6990812.html?ir=Hawaii the link for the original article by the way I wanted to go barefoot to my own wedding. Wife compromised and had me wear fancy leather sandals. I wore an aloha shirt, hey it was the best clothes I had LOL.

Looks like a Fleetwood Mac/Crosby Stills and Nash joint tour...

I just never bothered to get married, too much effort. De facto for 30+ years (and counting) but no wedding.

I was married to a surfer for 3 years and it was a terrible 3 years of my life. We often quarreled because surfing was in the 1st place for him, and I was in the second. Despite the fact that I loved him and took all the steps to stop a divorce, in any case, we divorced. It's a good thing we didn't have kids to watch us fight. Now it's been 5 years and as far as I know, he got married to a girl who also surfs. I hope they're happy with each other, but it still hurts when I think about him.
