Uncle Jaffa bought a SUP

The time has come after so many weeks of weak double underhead surf and losing match fitness .
Uncle Jaffa bought a 9ft 8 inch SUP, it is quite wide and will be very polite when surfing with other people
Epoxy etc. and finning it with non plastic fins .
Look forward to reports of thrills and spills.
Test paddle in our local tidal lake against strong tide and winds of three different boards 10'6" , 10'4" .The 9'8" built like uncle Jaffa thick and wide gave the best result.
:woot:

One chiseled Jaffa OTW!

I think besides the surfing aspect you will benefit from a physical aspect....the bronzed SUP gods around here sure have!

Coincidentally enough I did my
First ever SUP today at Denarau in Fiji! A few quick bails as I tried to paddle it in a surfboard stance but got the hang of it.

Didn't get to try it in any waves but was a bit of fun!
Can see how those things are so lethal when ametuers use them in big surf!

As jaffa probably knows and perhaps many of you that lots of older surfers go to SUPs because they are easier to catch waves with (once you get it down) and it puts strain on different muscles than paddling does and you can take your time popping up. I used to call my SUP a FDP (fall down paddle) board when I tried to ride waves with it but the last few times I was more successful so it is back to being a SUP. I don't use it much but I keep it in mind as I get older. I am waiting for the great photos that jaffa always has. He gets to surf some awesome waves.

Changed the fins a smaller centre fin 8" and two C drive fins as side bites.

They work, the wildlife crowded around as I went for a one hour conditioning and learning paddle right in front of my house?

Head count two huge stingrays, several banjo sharks , one turtle, many many min stingrays , fish and a turtle.
Then to top it off a dugong, the Jaffa cam will be going next paddle!

I was reasonably balanced and finding a whole new set of learnings!
