Crappy paint job cover-up

Hi kind folk - looking for some artistic input into my dilemma.

I was super excited to put an order in for a couple new boards, but requested paintjobs that were a bit out of the ordinary. I tend to like colourful boards and bright colours - so asked for JP-8 and JP-5 in the pic below:

I knew I was taking a bit of a chance, but to say I'm gutted with the way they came out, is a bit of an understatement. The one on the right is passable and I will leave it as is, but the hairy testicles (it was supposed to look like the Earth in halves) and the dull colouring of the board on the left, really needs work.

Questions:
* Will using a Posca pen over the hairy balls, cover it up?
* Will I need to use a dark colour, or will any colour work, given that the spray is underneath the glassing and the Posca on top
* Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with it / what design I could do over the top?

Any ideas or laughing at my hairy balls are welcomed.

There....I fixed it for you....

Part of my job deals with photos...the pic you had of the big group of boards was photoshopped, saturation blown up.....the photo of the boards you put up is pretty accurate to the original IMO only without the saturation boost.....neither here nor there as you wanted a bright board.....I think if you get a bright graphic tail pad it will change the hairy ball dynamic and brighten up the whole thing.....posca cover ups would look terrible; don't go that route please......don't stress, I think they look good.

Haha, thanks. I get that the original pic was overly saturated, but this was the look I asked for, so the sprayer should have matched it.

I sincerely doubt the sprayer thought to tone it down on purpose to match what the original photo muct have looked like ... it was just a shitty job.

He didn't even really use the same colours... I think it looks dreadful.

Back to the question - will a Posca cover the balls-up? :D

For example:

Can I just ask my wife to colour over what's there, in for example the board on the right's pattern?

Will that work?

Posca pens will cover it but quality of finish is dependant on the skill of the artist. In other words, it might look even worse. Also, you have to use lacquer to cover the paint from the Posca's, otherwise it rubs off.

Personally I'd leave it. By the time you've put wax on it you won't see most of it anyway.

I'll give you 2 tips, having agonised over my boards before:

1. no one else will notice
2. after a while, you wont notice

Also, as mentioned, wax hides a lot.

Thanks for he feedback guys - get what you're saying about ignoring it / wax and the like... but I've had many a surfboard in my life, and I know what I like.

My wife's very artistic... I'll get her to posca over my balls ;)
