At least for 2020 Olympics it will be.

Bad idea. How are they going to make a wave pool when they can't even build the main stadium. They scrapped the plans after the cost ballooned to over 2 billion. They Tokyo Olympic logo was found to be plagiarized and all the banners and logo goods had to be destroyed or contracts cancelled.
The Olympics is trying to attract younger viewers away from the X-games. Surfing already crowns a world champion every year. Waves like nature isn't on a schedule. What if the 100 yard dash track changed depending on the hour your heat starts ? Also surfing is subjective. Remember Kelly's 4.17 score ? Anyways so long as there are French judges scoring American athletes, things won't be fair ( for those that remember the ice skating fiasco )
