Another board

Keeping in the tradition of posting my new boards here is the latest one.

I went surfing to Todos Santos Island in Baja during the winter an the 7 1/2 semigun was not enough, so I ordered it's replacement over the summer. Here she is, 8 //1/2, x 20 x 2 3/4, has a little wider tail, not the usual pin, so I can whip it around in smaller waves. Somewhere on Surfing-Waves is my recount of a 20ft day, hoping to catch more waves next time I try.

Nice board but try to ride it a lot before you try it in big surf. I remember the first time I rode a friends 8'6" gun. It was so easy to catch waves with it almost seemed to have a motor. If that is 8'6" then you must be 5' ?

I'm 5'8, maybe it looks shorter on the picture. I intend to ride it in the winter when the swell picks up, I'm lucky that I live half a mile from the Tijuana Sloughs, which goes off about a half dozen times a winter, sometimes 8ft faces, sometimes up to 15, so I do get some practice for big waves before hitting anything huge, so I will get to paddle it beforehand.

....I wound up paddling right through the takeoff zone and taking one on the back of the head the first time out on that 7'8" x 21"x 3" that I posted up a while back....thing paddles so fast on smaller waves you really have to wait on paddling otherwise you're too far out in front....

I have a 9'6" gun which I almost never ride because I am saving it for triple overhead. It used to be my backup board but now it's my dust collector board because I haven't seen any triple overhead breaks that I felt I would have a good chance to avoid a serious pounding. Paddling over a long distance it is twice as fast as my 7'6" board (takes half the time to paddle out)

Agreed, the only reason I got it is that someone bought my 7;6" that I was disappointed with but that due is only 140lbs, so perfect for him, if not I probably would have stuck to it since it doesn't get used much
